Community Event in Galena
Historic Photo of Campion Air Force Station near Galena
Our fourth and last village is Galena. Galena is also our large village with a population of 470. Galena is built on a traditional Athabascan fish camp called Henry's Point. During WWII, an airfield was built in Galena and was maintained until 1993. In the 1970s, the town site was moved to better location after a major flood. Unfortunately, a disastrous flood happened again in 2013. Read more about flood in these newspaper articles (article 1 and article 2). Please check back later as we will post more information after our trip.
